The Mountain Leader scheme is administered by the UK Mountain Training Board [UKMTB], which specifies the minimum training and assessment standards for leaders of groups on British mountains, hills and moorland. Mountain Leaders are expected to renew their first aid accreditation every three years. The Mountain Leader qualification is recognised by the Health & Safety Executive and the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority, the latter being of relevance particularly for outdoor pursuits with children and young people.
